Coconut oil has been extremely popular lately, and with good reason! I had originally only been using it in home-made hair masks, but I use it for so much more now. Here are some ways I use coconut oil:
Hair Masks: Just take a spoonful or two (depending on how much hair you have) and heat it up in a mug in the microwave for about 45 seconds. I sometimes add a little extra virgin olive oil to the mix too. Then apply evenly to your hair and leave it in for a while! Your hair will absorb more of the moisture if you wrap your hair in a shower cap/bag and use some low heat! Wash your hair and you’re good to go. These masks are great for people with curly, thick hair!
Body Moisturizer: I literally just rub a little coconut oil all over my body after I get out of the shower. I kept one of my empty pots from LUSH and put a few scoops in from my larger tub in the kitchen. Using coconut oils for a moisturizer is great because it doesn’t contain a lot of the harsh chemicals other products can have. I have sensitive skin, and I shave my legs and have noticed coconut oil soothes rather irritates my skin. Plus, it smells good!
Cooking: Instead of using canola oil, try coconut oil! It’s a much healthier option and adds amazing flavour. Especially with summer just around the corner!
