I started practicing yoga more seriously about a year and a half ago. I had taken a few classes in university but had never actually taken the time to really settle into a routine practice.
Today, yoga has become one of the most important parts of my life. If you know me, you’ll know I’m always coming from or going to class. I’ve fallen so in love with the practice I managed to successfully complete a 40-day yoga challenge at @sempervivayoga.
At first, the transition between dance and yoga seemed easy. As a dancer, I was comfortable getting into postures and being aware of my body. The biggest difference between yoga and dance, however, is yoga’s love for the body. On the mat, I feel powerful and perfect, no matter now imperfect and human I may actually be. Yoga has taught me how to face and love those imperfections along with patience and strength (this comes with some physical perks too). I’ve decided I should post more about yoga. I mean why the hell not? It’s become a huge part of my life.
